I have been riding the trails in Redwood National Park since they were first built in 1981. My first experience leading trail rides was with Lane's Pack Station (owned by Doug Lane). In 1982 I went to work for Redwood Trails Campground, where I lead rides until 1987 when they stopped offering rides. Three years later I bought their trail horses to open Redwood Trails Horserides and I haven't looked back since.
I grew up on a farm, and have been riding since I was about 3 years old. My first horse was a cow! At least until my dad got me a pony so I wouldn't ride his cows anymore. Once on a proper horse, I started trick riding. There was a time when I could stand up on my horse while it ran! I also did side and tail vaults, as well as competing in barrel racing, cattle penning, and other Gymkhana events. You are welcome to ask any questions that you may have.
Together with my helpers, we have lots of experience with trail riding. Our horses are also quite experienced! They are very well-behaved and will take good care of you. We take our time on the rides, ensuring that our guests have plenty of time to take pictures, enjoy the scenery, and take in the majesty and enchantment of the redwood forest. We enjoy these rides as much as our guests. Come ride with us and have fun.
